About the Artist: Judith Silverman

Through my paintings and drawings, I express my thoughts and feelings about the world, and show them to the viewer. During my formative years at the University of Washington, I developed a love of drawing with charcoal, as well as developing my skills as a watercolorist and oil painter.  I studied with Norman Lundin, Viola Patterson, Bill Hickson, Ritchie Kehl, and Boyer Gonzales; and ceramics with Howard Kottler, who encouraged me to develop my individuality as an artist. More recently, I studied oil painting with master artist Nana Bagdavadze.

For many years, I taught art workshops in the Seattle public schools and watercolor classes for senior citizens.  I also helped hang over 50 art exhibits and painted theatrical backdrops and sets for several groups including Civic Light Opera.

Now that my four children are grown, I have returned to the creation of work in a variety of media, and have had two one woman shows as well as exhibiting my work in many other venues.  I recognize that I am an eternal student, constantly learning, analyzing and absorbing the techniques of the old masters to portray the world of today.
