Isfiya
We ate lunch at the Druze village of Isfiya, which is on Mt. Carmel southeast
of Haifa. Isfiya, like most Druze villages, is on the top of a hill
for security reasons (it is more difficult to march up than to run down,
and you get better ballistics if you are using ballistic weapons).
There are 22 Druze villages in Israel and perhaps 100,000 Druze people.
The Holy Book of the Druze is "The Wisdom of Life". Otherwise, the
Druze religion is a secret, and it occurs to me that there is much wisdom
in that.
